Privacy notice
This notice is published by the MindTales SafeMap team and describes how the app behaves today, during its Beta phase.
Anonymous by design
SafeMap does not ask students to sign in or create an account. There are no free-text fields in the student flow — every answer is a tap on a pre-defined option.
We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, precise GPS location, photos, student IDs, class lists or any other direct identifier.
What a submission contains
- The school selected from search (or typed by the student) and its country and state/province
- Grade band, and gender only if the student chooses to answer (it is optional)
- Selected safe zones and concern zones, reasons and times of day
- The questionnaire version used, and a timestamp
To keep the data usable we also store a short one-way hashed device signal and a local cooldown so the same device cannot submit repeatedly in a short window. This signal cannot be reversed into a person, and is used only for abuse prevention.
Please don't share personal details
Since the flow is tap-only, there is no place to type personal information. If a school name field is used, please enter only the school name — never a student, teacher or family name.
What is shown publicly
The public dashboard shows aggregated, anonymous perception only. It does not publish school rankings or expose an individual student's answers.
Children and schools
SafeMap is intended for use with the awareness of the school or a responsible adult. Because no identifiers are collected, individual responses cannot be traced back to a student, and there is nothing personal for a parent or school to retrieve or delete.
Beta status
SafeMap is a Beta, crowdsourced impact project. Questions, options and aggregated figures may change, and the service may be unavailable at times.
